A member of the Florida Gators football team, Matt Patchan, was shot in the shoulder Friday night while at a Tampa area park. All reports say that Patchan is doing well as Florida Coach, Urban Meyer issued a statement that Patchan is expected to fully recover. Patchan, however declined to comment on the issue. Patchan is 25th ranked player in the Takkle/SI Football Top 100. For highlights of Matt in high school check out the Takkle Top 100 Football rankings. We wish Matt a speedy recovery and hope he can dominate in his first season with the Gators this fall!

Terrelle Pryor's Jayhawks advance to basketball finals

The most talked about football prospect in recent years is not worrying whether he is going to play in the spread offense of Michigan or the smash mouth style of Ohio State right now. All Terrelle Pryor can think about is his match up with Strawberry Mansion at the Bryce Jordan Center on Saturday. Pryor has surely lived up to the hype so far. Not only is he one of the most highly touted football prospects in recent history, leading his team to a PIAA AA state football title. Pryor has now lead his basketball team to its first PIAA finals birth in the school's history. Contributing another triple double to the tune of 17 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, along with four blocked shots in the PIAA semi finals over Sharon High School 75-66.
Pryor has been in the eye of the media storm in the months leading up to decision day where every major D1 football school had him on his wish list. He has narrowed his choices to Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Florida and Oregon and is expected to decide once basketball season is over. With all this attention he has been receiving, he has had the where-with-all to put this all in perspective and focus on basketball and Jeanette's first title run in school history. Even though he is not going to play basketball in college. I'm not saying he couldn't play basketball in college he's a tremendous talent and great two sport athlete, but it doesn't seem that any program is going to allow him to take that risk.
His popularity has grown so much that a Terrelle Pryor figurine has been made by a local Pennsylvania man, making him the first high school athlete to have a figure in his likeness.
If you can't make it to the Bryce Jordan Arena at Penn State, you have your last chance to see Pryor on the hardwood as the Jeannette Jayhawks take on the Philadelphia City Champions, Strawberry Mansion for the PIAA State Final on Takkle TV and Penn Atlantic at 2pm on Saturday.

The Terrelle Pryor Dispute: back to basketball on Monday

Let’s start with saying this: There is absolutely no shame in being the 16th best high school football player in the country.
Jeannete (Pa.) wunderkind Terrelle Pryor is without question the best unsigned high school football player in the country right now, and his quest to find a school to call home for at least the next three years has lit the sports world ablaze.
He is touted as the best player in the country by several rankings services, and it’s easy to see why. He is a tremendous athlete, who at 6-6, 220 has the prototype size and requisite huge arm to be an impact player at the next level. But in the SI/TAKKLE.com rankings, Pryor is listed as the number 16 player in the country, and Sports Illustrated felt compelled to explain why he is rated so low to its readership. Rarely will scouts explain why one particular player is rated ahead of another, Offense-Defense Football scout Bill Urbanik explained his O-D’s decision to SI’s Andy Staples.
"O-D is not disputing [Pryor's] brilliance," Urbanik said in a story featured on SI.com. "We're not disputing anything about him. What we're looking at is the player he'll be four years from now."
At the end of the day, regardless of whether he is considered to be the best quarterback, best athlete or best overall player in the high school class of 2008, Pryor will soon make a decision. He’s scheduled to take a visit to Michigan this weekend, and next weekend he could be on the road again. But regardless, he will sign with a school soon, and then he will have to go about the process of proving himself all over again.
