The 2009 season for NASCAR has been bumpy, but the recent decision by Danica Patrick to enter the stock-car realm could give the league the boost it needs. Patrick, a well known female IndyCar racer, has decided to enter the Nationwide Series this upcoming 2010 season. She has joined forces with Dale Earnhardt Jr., and will partially drive for his JR Motorsports Nationwide Series team.
But, don't get your hopes up, it will be a while until we see Danica racing with the pros. Her premier in the minors will begin February 6 in the ARCA race at Daytona, where she will sport a No.7 stock car, sponsored by GoDaddy.com. From there, it may take a few years until we see her race competitively in the Sprint Cup Series, as she will need time to adjust from driving open-wheel cars to stock cars.
As if these hurdles were not enough, Danica faces the gender issue. As a woman in a male dominated sport, she is open to much criticism and disappointment by fans in the beginning. Unlike other women who have tried to excel in the "major league," Danica will be given the proper equipment to establish herself on the track. Her success could open many opportunities for not only NASCAR, but for women in the racing industry.

Danica on Dale Jr's team will make for a money making magnet; sounds like a good move by Nascar
