It's Bowl Time!!

As most of us in the Northeast were snowed in this weekend, it couldn't have come at a better time with the start of College Bowl Games. Fresno State and Wyoming kicked off Bowl Season Saturday night at University Stadium in Albuquerque, NM. Both teams battled it out from the beginning, as touchdowns went back and forth through the end of the second quarter. At the end of the 4th, Fresno State was ready to do a victory dance, until Ian Watts (Wyoming) kicked a 37-yard field goal to tie the game 28-28. After a score-less overtime, the teams pushed through to a second overtime where Wyoming scored the winning touchdown, ending the game 35-28. This was Wyoming's first bowl game since 2004.

Following the New Mexico Bowl, the attention focused on UCF vs. Rutgers in St. Petersburg, FL. From the start, Rutgers was dominating the field, scoring within the first few minutes, then maintaining a steady lead throughout the rest of the game. Mohamed Sanu of Rutgers was the man to watch as he ran for 2 touchdowns, scored his own TD on a pass from Tom Savage. This is the 4th consecutive Bowl Game Rutgers has won in the past 5 Bowls they have played in.

The final Bowl Game of the week took place Sunday night, as Southern Mississippi was defeated by Middle Tennessee in the New Orleans Bowl. Tennessee's Dwight Dasher set a record for the most yards yards rushed by a quarterback in a bowl game, with 201. Southern Mississippi took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, and that was the last time they had a lead the rest of the game. The Blue Raiders' victory last night, 42-32, marked the team's second appearance ever in a bowl game.
