Exactly 2 weeks ago, Martin Brodeur was congratulated on tying Terry Sawchuk's 40-year-old record for the most regular season shutouts. Now, the record is all his! That's right, Marty Brodeur has a new record in the books, 104 career shutouts. With much help from his teammates last night, the New Jersey Devils defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0. The win boosted the Devils into the #1 slot in the Atlantic Division, with a 26-8-1 record, and leaves Pittsburgh trailing close behind.
This achievement comes 2 games after Brodeur set another record for the most regular-season appearances by a goalie, with 1, 030. And the number continues to rise. Congratulations Marty, we look forward to what you have in store for us in 2010!
