Madison Square Garden hosted the final round of the 2009 2K Sports Classic tournament this past weekend. In the championship match-up, Syracuse beat North Carolina 87-71. Recent transfer, and tournament MVP, Wesley Johnson, took the spotlight scoring 25 of the teams 87 points and led the team with 8 rebounds. This win put Syracuse back on the map after much criticism over their pre-season loss to Division II Le Moyne.
The tournament, benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer was co-sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer research.
