The great MC Hammer has launched his latest venture and no, it’s not a sequel to “Please Hammer don’t hurt em”. This venture is called DanceJam. The site is similar to that of the TAKKLE throwdowns with a lot less features. Throwdowns pits two users against each other and relies on the community to decide who the best is? TAKKLE however has a much wider array of categories in which you can show off your supremacy to the community. With 16 categories and a slew of subcategories the possibilities are endless on TAKKLE. Also, the possibility of having “dance-off’s” on TAKKLE is also something you can do! Just choose the category: just for fun and create one a throwdown called best dance moves.
DanceJam has taken its inspiration from the popularity of niche social networking and video sites, in combination with the increase in popularity in dancing as seen by recent movies such as You Got Served 1 and 2, Step Up 1 and 2, and many other cable television reality shows. DanceJam seems to have found a great niche market to the 13-25 yr old market. Now it’s just a matter of whether or not it will catch on with its demographic.
